The last week or so has been awfully cold and windy and just generally miserable. I mentioned how I went to Greenwich market on Wednesday and that was a wash because of the weather mainly. But I also went two days to the Surface Design Show to listen to some talks and geek out over materials. You know, fondle some ceramic tiles, feel up some wood paneling, stroke some carpeting. The usual for an architect.
One of the talks I went to had some presentations by some very interesting designers and artists. What really stuck was the presentation of the designer/inventor of sugru. Sugru is an awesome new material perfect for people who like customising and fixing things.

But seriously guys, just click on the photo above and go to the sugru site to see for yourselves. It's still rather expensive in my opinion and the packs are rather small, but it's an amazing invention and it will be great when it becomes cheaper and more readily available.
The other talk I went was even more for designers. It was about the new colour and design trends for 2014 as predicted by mix magazine and global colour. They didn't say anything ground-breaking, most of the trends have been around for a while and we have noticed them. But they summarised and put them in order nicely. And the talk was very inspiring, I thought of all sorts of new ideas I want to try out for my etsy shop as I was listening.

Also I haven't forgotten that I promised to give one lucky person an outtake from my first multi-colour linoprint. I had set the final date to leave a comment to take place in the draw as the 31st of January. I was rather disappointed by the fact that you obviously didn't really like my print, because only two people commented saying they were interesting in winning it. I feel a bit silly putting only two names in a hat so I will just send out two cards instead.

And, good lord, I love that linoprint. I missed the date to leave a comment though & really wasn't feeling that lucky anyway. I'm surprised you didn't get a ton of entries. I'll bet people thought they wouldn't win & were in a bit of a winter-induced funk. Anyway, congratulations to the lucky gals who won!
